Shanna Bess of Manassas Park High School, recently was presented the Supporting Actress in a Play Cappie award at Sunday's Cappies Gala at the Kennedy Center.  She performed in her school's play, Hiroshima: Crucible of Light that was directed by Jessica Conaway, also a student of the school.

The Cappies Critics and Awards program for high school theater and journalism students just celebrated the end of their 11th season with an awards gala.  Schools from Fairfax, Loudoun, Montgomery and Prince William Counties, the District of Columbia, and the cities of Alexandria, Arlington, Manassas, and Manassas Park were recognized during a Tony awards-like gala at the Kennedy Center's Concert Hall on June 13th to a sold out audience of 2400.

This year, over 350 student written reviews were published or broadcast in The Washington Post, Showbizradio.net, and in local media and over 320 critics voted for the 37 award categories.  There are 14 Cappie chapters around the United States and three in Canada.
