Teacher Licensure

The Code of Virginia requires all certified positions to hold a Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) license. Your HR Generalist is here to help you through this process. It is the responsibility of the license holder to maintain their license issued by VDOE. All employees in positions requiring a VDOE-issued license must submit their initial licensure application packet, or proof of license, within 30 days of their contracted start date.

Please note: VDOE discontinued the mailing of paper licenses and evaluations. Applicants and license holders should create an eGOV account through VDOE to view their license evaluations and license. Instructions on how to create an eGOV account can be found here

We at MPCS will provide guidance to all licensed staff, and interested employees in licensure on all licensure processes and salary upgrades. MPCS also pays all licensing fees! We work directly with the VDOE on your behalf. Note that as the licensing agency, VDOE makes the final determination in all licensure matters based on the licensure regulations. Please do not send any licensure documents directly to the VDOE. Submit licensure materials to your assigned HR Generalist.
